fieldwork update: the final product

26May09

As I’ve mentioned before, my program requires me to do some fieldwork in both an elementary and secondary setting.  By complete chance, I had the opportunity to conduct my secondary fieldwork at the largest high school in the district, which just happens to be about two miles down the road from my place.

The fieldwork entailed creating READ posters.  The posters feature students, teachers, and staff, and will be displayed throughout the school to promote literacy and advocate for the library’s coolness.  We’re still waiting on the printer, but I am thrilled that the posters are finally completed.

I thought it would be great if the READ posters could appear on the website for the district, school, or library, so I compiled the images into a slideshow.

Here it is!

I am very much indebted to East High School.  Its teachers, students, and staff have been incredibly welcoming to me and insanely supportive of my project.  The library staff has been immensely generous with their time, knowledge, and encouragement.  I am especially grateful to Molly, my site supervisor, for providing me with a fabulous opportunity, a fun project, a wonderful experience, and a great mentor.
